Importance of art in human history #5

Taking all this into account, it is easy to see how mankind has managed to flourish culturally despite having so little artistic value in ancient times. Through the ages, artists shaped ideas and dreams into tangible forms through painting, architecture, music and literature - whether they were commissioned or not was irrelevant as they were able to express themselves regardless of whether anyone else understood or appreciated their work. Over time though, how efficiently modern societies value and manage our cultural output versus preserving it is arguably beyond comprehension given how “valuable” (or not) it is compared to other forms of entertainment media (comic books etc).
